| Abstrakt: | This thesis examines numerous digital encodings of music and compares their unique strengths and weaknesses. We introduce an extension to the Standard MIDI File format which allows the coupling of the MIDI playback data with its harmonic analysis. Additionally, we have created a proof-of-concept Java program which extends a .mid file with the results of an algorithmic harmonic analysis
